Itinerary
Day 1: APT Mohamed V / Casablanca
Casablanca where you will be met and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon sightseeing includes the Mosque of Hassan II (the largest in the World, after Mecca), the Habbous Quarter, the gates of the Royal Palace, and a drive through the Jewish area (the largest such Community in the Arab world) .
Day 2 : Casablanca / Rabat / Moulay Idriss / Volubilis / Fez
Drive to Rabat where you visit the Kasbah of the Oudayas, Hassan Tower, and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V (father of the present day King Hassan II, Mohamed V defied orders of the Vichy government when they required the Jewish to wear Stars of David on their clothing and saved his Jewish subjects the fate of their European brethren). Time permitting, visit a new private museum near Rabat where you can see fine collection of Moroccan crafts and items of Jewish interest. Continue to the Holy City of Moulay Idriss, where the founder of Islam in Morocco is buried. Stop at the Roman ruins of Volubilis and continue to Fes. Dinner and accomodation at the hotel.
Day 3 : Fez
Full day sightseeing of the oldest of the Imperial Cities includes the ancient medina and the mellah (Jewish district). Fez once had 40 synagogues, and you will visit one or two remaining ones, before stopping at the picturesque white-washed Jewish cemetery, and the Jewish Museum of the Em Habanim synagogue. In the medina visit the University, the Najjarine Fountain, Attarine Medersa, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II. Explore the narrow and winding souks, the tanneries, and the House of Maimonides with its mysterious water clock. Optional Sabbath services and dinner (at the Maimonides Club) can be arranged with sufficient advance notice.
Day 4 : Fez
Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure .
Depart via the Middle Atlas mountains, Berber villages, and the ski resort of Ifrane en route to Marrakesh. Perhaps you may want to visit the colorful of Jamaa El Fna square the evening where story tellers, magicians snakE charmers and acrobats put on a neverending show. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 : Marrakech
Exploration of this exotic city includes the Koutoubia minaret, Saadian Tombs, Menara Gardens, Bahia Palace, and the Majorelle Gardens. Time to visit the colorful souks with their enticing array of spices, carpets, jewelry and grafts.
DaY 7:Marrakech / Ourika Valley / Marrakech
Depart to the scenic and "authentic" Ourika Valley where people still go to market by donkey. Light a candle at the tomb of tzaddik Rabbi Shlomo bel Hans in the High Atlas. Pilgrimages to the tombs of Jewish "saints" are unique to Judaism in Morocco, and this is one of the most important. Once a year in the spring Jews of Moroccan descent, and Muslims are as wELL, converge on such sites for a weekend of festivities. Return to Marrakesh. An optional Fantaasi evening of folklore and typical Moroccan meal taken undernehat caidal tents is offered in palm grove just outside the city. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 : Marrakech
Morning visit to the mellah with its synagogues and cemetery. Balance of the day at leisure for shopping, relaxation by the swimming pool, or further personal exploration. Your choice of lunch or dinner at the hotel.
Day 9 : Marrakesh / Menara Airport
Transfer to Menara Airport, assistance to differents boarding facilities. End of our services.
